FOSTER CITY, Calif. (AP) _ Gilead Sciences Inc. (GILD) on Tuesday reported second-quarter earnings of $1.14 billion.

The Foster City, California-based company said it had profit of 91 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for amortization costs and non-recurring costs, were $1.58 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 11 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.51 per share.

The HIV and hepatitis C drugmaker posted revenue of $6.26 billion in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $5.88 billion.

Gilead expects full-year earnings in the range of $6.35 to $6.75 per share.
