Internal news Welcome future miners!
Wednesday, 30 September 2020

Leinster Community School students, aged between 8 and 16, recently visited our near-by Agnew mine in Australia for two days to learn more about our work and our industry.

The visit is one of the ways the Agnew Environment team engages with the towns of Leonora and Leinster. 'We to like share what mining is all about and the opportunities it offers, especially with a younger generation - and of course, answer their wide-ranging questions. Our aim was to give the students some insights into a day in the life of a miner and the interesting activities that are part of our jobs,' says Mike Goy, Senior Assistant: Environment.

Highlighting the importance of engagements like these, all departments supported this initiative. The combined effort made it possible for the students to experience highlights like touring the site to see mining in action, and getting a look at trucks, loaders, the mine's brand-new fire truck and wind turbines. Thank you Team Agnew!
