MEDIA RELEASE Gold Fields receives multiple prestigious awards for decarbonisation efforts across Australia

Perth, Western Australia, 7 May 2025:

Gold Fields has received multiple accolades for its industry-leading decarbonisation strategies and investment during the 2025 Decarbonising Mining Awards in Perth yesterday.

The annual awards honour outstanding achievements in mining sustainability, decarbonisation and innovation, with the winners selected from a distinguished panel of judges across the mining, finance and sustainability sectors.

Gold Fields was joint winner of the Excellence in Decarbonisation Strategy and Implementation by a Mining Company award, along with Fortescue.

This prestigious award recognises Gold Fields' strategies and significant investments in driving real emissions reductions across its operations, including the landmark A$296 million St Ives Renewable Energy Project.

The project will become one of Western Australia's largest renewable energy initiatives at an existing mine site, using wind and solar power to generate 77MW to power operations at St Ives near Kambalda in the Goldfields.

The renewable energy system will power 73% of the St Ives site and reduce the mine's carbon emissions by approximately 50% by 2030.

Gold Fields' Global Energy Lead James Koerting was also awarded the 2025 Mining Decarbonisation Champion, recognising his leadership in developing and delivering the Company's award-winning renewable energy strategies.

Speaking at the award ceremony, James said he was honoured to be recognised for his role in helping Gold Fields achieve its global target of 30% net emission reduction by 2030.

"Our latest initiative, the St Ives Renewable Energy Project, will mark a significant milestone in our decarbonisation journey here in Australia," James said.

"We've already made significant progress at our Australian operations, using renewable energy and BESS to generate and store 16MW at Gruyere, 29MW at Granny Smith and 35MW at Agnew.

"Gold Fields has always had sustainability in its DNA, and these projects are reflective of our commitment to delivering a more sustainable future."

Gold Fields is continuing to expand decarbonisation initiatives at its 10 sites and projects across Australia, South Africa, Ghana, Canada and South America.
