AIK banka a.d. (BELEX:AIKB) agreed to acquire a 54.57% stake in Gorenjska banka d.d., Kranj from a consortium headed by Sava, Druzba Za Upravljanje In Financiranje, D. D. for €57.8 million on February 21, 2017. AIK banka a.d. (BELEX:AIKB) signed an agreement to acquire 54.57% stake in Gorenjska banka, d.d. (LJSE:GBKR) from a consortium headed by Sava, Druzba Za Upravljanje In Financiranje, D. D. on December 13, 2017. Under the terms, Sava, druzba za upravljanje in financiranje, d.d. (LJSE:SAVR) will sell its 37.65% stake in Gorenjska. AIK made an offer for €298 per share. The final decision will be made at an extraordinary shareholder meeting of Gorenjska banka by a consortium of shareholders which includes Bank Assets Management Company, Abanka Skladi d.o.o. and Zavarovalnica Triglav, d.d., selling a majority stake in Gorenjska banka. The deal is subject to regulatory approvals. As of January 30, 2018, the shareholders of Sava, Druzba Za Upravljanje In Financiranje, D. D. agreed to sell their shares. The divestment of Sava's shares is valid under the condition that Sava d.d.'s Management Board acquires a statement from the buyer with attached credible proof that the buyer has all the needed and valid consents from the National Bank of Serbia, Bank of Slovenia, or European Central Bank for acquiring shares of Gorenjska banka. As of March 21, 2018, Slovenian Sovereign Holding proposes Sava shareholders to extend the deadline for regulatory clearance till April 16, 2018. As of May 4, 2018, Sava's management Board did not approve the transaction as AIK banka had not submitted all the documents required for the transaction.

AIK banka a.d. (BELEX:AIKB) cancelled the acquisition of a 54.57% stake in Gorenjska banka d.d., Kranj from a consortium headed by Sava, Druzba Za Upravljanje In Financiranje, D. D. effective January 26, 2019. The transaction fell through when the Serbian and Slovenian central banks revoked permission for the takeover after the Serbian central bank discovered irregularities in AIK's operations. AIK will launch a new bid in the upcoming days.
