GREEN LIGHT FOR NEXT PHASE OF NEW HOMES AT WELLESLEY

On 1 March 2017, Rushmoor Borough Council's Development Management Committee voted in favour of the next phase of housing at Wellesley, a new neighbourhood in Aldershot. The phase is being brought forward by national housebuilder Bellway Homes, who last night received resolution to grant in favour for this second phase of new homes at Wellesley. Wellesley is being brought forward by Grainger plc, the UK's largest listed residential landlord, with housebuilders, such as Bellway Homes, delivering certain phases of the development.

The new phase, called Corunna, in recognition of the area's military connections, will see an attractive collection of 277 new apartments and houses developed, in addition to the 228 currently being built on the adjacent phase, Maida, which was launched by Bellway in February 2015.

As part of Wellesley's well-considered overall masterplan developed by Grainger, over 3,850 new homes will be built, in addition to two brand new primary schools, a central park and neighbourhood centre. The development will also see some of the town's historic and listed military buildings, including Cambridge Military Hospital and Headquarters 4th Division, refurbished and brought back into to use as homes and community facilities.

Speaking of the new development, Mark Harrop, Head of Sales at Bellway Homes South London comments: 'We're delighted to have been involved with a project as significant as Wellesley from day one, and are looking forward to delivering more new homes in this second phase. Bellway enjoyed great success at Maida, and we look forward to launching the stylish new homes at Corunna soon. Aldershot itself is undergoing an extensive transformation and we are proud to be a part of it.'

John Beresford, Development Director at Grainger PLC, comments: 'We are really pleased that Bellway's planning application has been well received and given the go-ahead by the council. We are excited to see this next phase of Wellesley take shape and the new community here continue to grow.'

The new phase of homes at Corunna will offer an attractive mix of property types that are ideal for first time buyers, growing families and downsizers. All of the homes will be designed to a high specification, with modern kitchen units and white sanitary ware to all bathrooms. Every house will enjoy a private garden, and apartments benefit from private balconies.
