PHOENIX (AP) _ Grand Canyon Education Inc. (LOPE) on Thursday reported second-quarter profit of $49.5 million.

On a per-share basis, the Phoenix-based company said it had net income of $1.09. Earnings, adjusted for amortization costs, came to $1.12 per share.

The for-profit education company posted revenue of $201.5 million in the period.

For the current quarter ending in October, Grand Canyon Education expects its per-share earnings to range from $1.10 to $1.18.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $207.7 million to $212.1 million for the fiscal third quarter.

Grand Canyon Education expects full-year earnings in the range of $6.03 to $6.25 per share, with revenue ranging from $900.1 million to $911.5 million.

Grand Canyon Education shares have fallen roughly 3% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $90.50, a decline of 12% in the last 12 months.
