On September 8, Great Wall Motor Company Limited (stock code: 601633.SH, 02333.HK; hereinafter referred to as GWM) released its production and sales data of August 2021. In August this year, GWM achieved sales of 74,257 new vehicles, and the cumulative sales volume reached 784,023 units from January to August, an increase of 39.3% year-on-year. Among them, in August, 12,399 new vehicles were sold in overseas markets, up 81.1% year-on-year. From January to August, the cumulative overseas sales volume reached 86,509 units, an increase of 156.8% year-on-year, and the overall sales volume accounted for 11%.

Affected by the COVID-19 in Southeast Asia, the supply of parts such as Bosch ESP (Electronic Stability Program) has slumped, significantly affecting the production and sales of GWM in August. In August, meanwhile, thel demand of GWM continued to grow, and orders for many models of HAVAL, WEY, ORA, TANK and GWM Pickup were increasing continually. Accordingly, the market was in short supply.

Sales of GWM from January to August

At present, GWM continues to deepen its user operation and speed up global development and layout. GWM has been taking active measures in response to the shortage of chip supply, including actively purchasing chips worldwide, speeding up the chip industry layout and strengthening the system construction in the chip field, so as to minimize the shortage of chip supply, ensure the demand for vehicle purchase by users and strive for the annual sales target.

Flourishing new product matrix of the five major brands has been unveiled

In August, new vehicle flow of five brands of GWM further contributed to the continued surging consumption demand in the market. In August, 40,560 HAVAL vehicles were sold. From January to August, the cumulative sales volume reached 489,297 units, an increase of 33.7% year-on-year. As the 'National Legendary Vehicle' with the monthly sales of 20,026 units, HAVAL H6 ranks the model the best-selling SUV in China for 99 months in a row. 31,496 WEY vehicles were sold January to August. Among them, Mocha sold 4,506 units in August, with a month-on-month growth of 49.3%. In August, 12,163 ORA vehicles were sold, up 153.7% year-on-year, and from January to August, the cumulative sales volume reached 71,961 units, up 316.1% year-on-year. The demand for TANK 300 continued to rise, with 6,008 units delivered in August and 44,551 units delivered from January to August. From January to August, 146,718 GWM Pickups were sold worldwide, accounting for nearly 50% of the domestic market. Among them, 29,499 units were sold overseas, a year-on-year increase of 232%. From January to August, 77,356 GWM POER vehicles were sold, up 13.4% year-on-year.

Continuous improvement of global system and successful overseas development

With the increasing improvement of the global R&D, production and sales system, GWM has also been in high demand in overseas markets and has repeatedly achieved good results in many international markets. With the overseas launch of the 3rd Gen HAVAL H6, HAVAL JOLION and GWM POER, GWM has made breakthroughs in its layout and development in many countries, with obvious market share and sales growth. Accordingly, in August, 12,399 new vehicles were sold in overseas markets, up 81.1% year-on-year. From January to August, the cumulative overseas sales volume has reached 86,509 units, an increase of 156.8% year-on-year, and the overall sales volume has accounted for 11%.

On August 18, GWM and Daimler Group signed an agreement on the acquisition of the Erasemapolis factory in Brazil. With the completion of the delivery and intelligent upgrading, the factory will become the new global intelligent production base of GWM, accelerating the development of GWM in South America.
