Madrid, July 28th 2022.- Grenergy, the publicly listed independent power producer dedicated to the development, construction, operation and maintenance of solar photovoltaic plants, wind farms and storage projects, has appointed Felipe Pezo as the new General Manager in the Southern Cone to drive the growth of the company in the region.

Pezo will lead the regional expansion plan aimed at growing the company´s portfolio of renewable energy projects. In the last decade since the company started its operations in Latam, Grenergy positioned itself a leader in Chile in number of plants connected, more than 50, and expanded its presence to five countries in the region.

Felipe Pezo (1981, Concepción) has over 20 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, in the most recent years as Acciona Energía´s business development general manager in South America. Throughout his career, he contributed to the construction of more than 1.000 MW and development of 5.000 MW of renewable energy projects in various countries of the region.

His education was developed between Chile and Spain. He holds two engineering degrees, industrial and electrical, by the Bio-Bio University in Chile, and a Master's degree in Energy and Economics by the Federico Santa María Technical University in Chile. In addition, he obtained a MBA by the Polytechnic University of Cataluña (UPC) in Spain.

The newly appointed General Manager will accelerate Grenergy's development plans from Santiago, where the company coordinates its operations in Latam. In this market, Grenergy has already built a pipeline of over 5.5 GW of solar and wind projects in different development stages. Approximately half of these are located in Chile (2.8 GW), in Colombia the portfolio reaches 1.4 GW while in Peru it exceeds 1 GW. Additionally, Grenergy is developing over 2.6 GWh battery projects in Chile.

Capital Increase to grow

Pezo´s appointment comes as part of the company's strategy for growth and geographic expansion. Grenergy has the support of the capital markets to meet its targets and, last June, was able to successfully raise 90 million euros of capital for the investments of its strategic plan.

Grenergy´s expansion in Europe is a highlight of its strategy and the company recently announced its entry in the German market, where it plans to develop solar PV plants as of 2023, targeting a minimum of 3 GW of pipeline by 2025.

The capital raised will also contribute to accelerate its strategy in storage. The company already has in place divisions specialized on this technology in the three platforms where it operates, USA, Latin America and Europe. The goal is to incorporate storage to its growth plans as a key factor of the energy transition and a main tool of the electrical grid.
