Grenergy obtains nearly 500 MW in environmental permits for

photovoltaic plants in Spain

  • These authorisations reinforce the achievement of the strategic objectives that the listed company has set for Spain in 2023 and 2024
  • The projects will provide clean energy to around 89,000 households and avoid the emission of 328,113 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.
  • The different solar parks are strategically located in the provinces of Almeria, Guadalajara and Valencia

Madrid, 25 January 2023- Grenergy, the listed renewable energy producer and specialist in the development, construction and management of photovoltaic, wind and storage projects, has obtained positive Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) for three photovoltaic plants in Spain totalling 472 MW, the company informed the Spanish Securities and Exchange Commission (CNMV) today.

These projects are Tabernas (Almería) with 250 MW, with an annual production of

466.6 GWh; José Cabrera (Guadalajara), 50 MW and 90.5 GWh of annual production and Ayora (Valencia), with 172 MW and 327.3 GWh.

These permits, with which Grenergy already has the environmental approval of the Administration, represent an endorsement in the achievement of the objectives that the listed company has established in our market for 2023 and 2024. Its development also strengthens the weight of Spain within the European portfolio, which the company expects to double from the current 25% to 45% by 2025.

The listed company currently has a pipeline of 11.4 GW, an increase of 5.1 GW in the last year. It has also set a target for the first time in storage, where it aims to reach 1 GWh between operation and construction to be achieved in that period.

Commitment to sustainability

These projects are part of the listed company's sustainability strategy, with the utmost respect for the environment where they are located and the promotion of local economies, focusing on geographical diversity to generate wealth throughout the territory, as they are strategically located in three autonomous communities: Andalusia, Castilla La Mancha and the Valencian Community.

The three projects that have achieved environmental permits will mean the penetration of more renewable energy in the Spanish energy mix, will generate clean energy for about 89,000 homes, will avoid the emission of 328,113 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere and will produce a total of 884.4 GWh per year.

According to Grenergy's CEO, David Ruiz de Andrés, "these permits support the strategic objectives we have set for the Spanish market and reaffirm the company's commitment to the environment and the preservation of the ecosystems where we build our renewable energy facilities".
