Segezha Packaging LLC, located in the Republic of Karelia and owned by Segezha Group (MOEX: SGZH, a subsidiary of Sistema PJSFC), has just commissioned a set of two state-of-the-art Optima-2 printing machines, produced by SOMA, Czech Republic. These machines have made the enterprise's products more competitive, as they provide higher output quality and can handle complex printing patterns. Investment in the project amounted to RUB 420 million.

The printing machines can use eight colours. Thanks to the special printing technique used, even shades close to one another on the spectrum remain clearly distinct. The production process uses water-based ink that is harmless both for humans and the environment.

'The new equipment uses the flexographic printing technology. This method produces fewer volatile compounds, eliminating the need for solvents and significantly reducing the negative impact on the environment,' Aleksey Sitnikov, CEO of Segezha Packaging LLC, comments on the commissioning of the printing machines.

SOMA equipment comes with its own quality control system, which covers 100% of the printing process and mitigates the risk of defects. The automation system allows the process to be quickly readjusted. This is very useful when printing in small batches (which accounts for an increasingly larger share of orders). Thanks to the new printers, the enterprise has increased the productivity, efficiency and accuracy of its complex printing.
