Gruma S.A.B. De CV announced earnings results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2019. For the third quarter, the company announced sales was MXN 20,053.329 million compared to MXN 18,487.638 million a year ago. Operating income was MXN 2,473.829 million compared to MXN 2,435.799 million a year ago. Net income was MXN 1,303.869 million compared to MXN 1,274.945 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share was MXN 3.12 compared to MXN 2.97 a year ago. For the nine months, sales was MXN 57,945.853 million compared to MXN 54,961.552 million a year ago. Operating income was MXN 6,885.224 million compared to MXN 7,100.401 million a year ago. Net income was MXN 3,600.568 million compared to MXN 3,865.140 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was MXN 8.64 compared to MXN 8.99 a year ago. Basic earnings per share was MXN 8.61 compared to MXN 8.99 a year ago.
Gruma, S.A.B. de C.V. is a Mexico-based food holding company. The Company is engaged in corn and flour tortilla production across the world. The Company produces wheat flour and its derivatives, such as flatbreads, wraps, chapatti, and pizza bases plus other food products. Its segments include: Corn flour and packaged tortilla division, which manufactures and distributes approximately 20 varieties of corn flour that are used mainly to produce and distribute different types of tortillas and tortilla chip products in the United States; Corn flour division, which engages principally in the production, distribution and sale of corn flour in Mexico under MASECA brand; and Other segments, which focuses on corn flour, hearts of palm, rice and other products.
