FCC Construction has published the greenhouse gas report for the 2020 financial year. It is said that what is not measured cannot be managed or improved. This report quantifies the company's emissions and verifies for the first time, and in a pioneering way in the sector, the totality of these emissions throughout its operation throughout its activity and in all the countries in which the company is present.

FCC Construccion established among its Management Objectives 2017-2020 to expand the verification of the GHG emissions inventory to the international level, so that in 2020 it would have 100% of the activity verified, under the ISO 14064-1 Standard. This year we achieved this goal and provided all our stakeholders, collaborators, customers, society, in general, with the complete information of everything we do and in all the places of the world where we develop our work.

The fulfillment of this objective assumes that the GHG emissions produced in Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria, Romania, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Peru, the United States, Canada, Qatar and Saudi Arabia in the year 2020 are quantified and verified.

The absolute extension of the verification has meant carrying out actions such as the dissemination of the organization's emissions quantification methodology among its own staff, to raise awareness about the importance of the annual GHG emissions report and the company's climate change strategy; the collection of specific emission factors for all different countries and the different sources of GHGs in the inventory or the establishment of internal controls to ensure the quality of inventory activity data.

This achievement is the culmination of a path started in 2010, when FCC Construccion began to integrate the concept of climate change, becoming the first Spanish company in the sector to submit its emissions to external verification by AENOR.
