Grupo Gigante, S. A. B. De C. V. Announced earnings results for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2019. For the fourth quarter, the company announced sales was MXN 8,090.113 million compared to MXN 8,273.133 million a year ago. Operating income was MXN 810.464 million compared to MXN 673.289 million a year ago. Net income was MXN 369.461 million compared to MXN 410.754 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share was MXN 0.37 compared to MXN 0.41 a year ago. For the full year, sales was MXN 32,445.627 million compared to MXN 33,188.795 million a year ago. Operating income was MXN 2,939.002 million compared to MXN 2,514.671 million a year ago. Net income was MXN 600.850 million compared to MXN 1,169.836 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share was MXN 0.6 compared to MXN 1.18 a year ago.
Grupo Gigante, S.A.B. de C.V. is a holding company. The Company's segments include Retail, Restaurants, Real Estate and Corporate. The Retail segment includes specialized stores, which sell office supplies and furniture, as well as office electronics and housewares. The Restaurants segment includes family restaurant chain that offers dishes and service in a casual environment. The Real Estate segment includes development of investment property, retail stores, shopping malls and corporate office buildings leased to tenants, as well as development of housing for sale. The Specialized Retail segment includes Office Depot, with the Casa Marchand, Fesa and Radio Shack, brands, as well as Grupo Prisa in Chile; Tiendas Home Store, and Petco (Joint Venture). The Restaurants segment is composed of Restaurantes Toks, with the Beer Factory and Restaurantes California brands; Panda Express, a franchise of the gourmet Chinese restaurant, and Cup Stop, offering specialty coffee and baked bread.
