Grupo Gigante, S. A. B. de C. V. reported earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2022. For the second quarter, the company reported sales was MXN 7,487.28 million compared to MXN 6,665.22 million a year ago. Net income was MXN 209.32 million compared to MXN 127.71 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was MXN 0.21 compared to MXN 0.13 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was MXN 0.21 compared to MXN 0.13 a year ago.
For the six months, sales was MXN 15,336.1 million compared to MXN 13,299.32 million a year ago. Net income was MXN 554.77 million compared to MXN 217.79 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was MXN 0.56 compared to MXN 0.22 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was MXN 0.56 compared to MXN 0.22 a year ago.
Grupo Gigante, S.A.B. de C.V. is a holding company. The Company's segments include Retail, Restaurants, Real Estate and Corporate. The Retail segment includes specialized stores, which sell office supplies and furniture, as well as office electronics and housewares. The Restaurants segment includes family restaurant chain that offers dishes and service in a casual environment. The Real Estate segment includes development of investment property, retail stores, shopping malls and corporate office buildings leased to tenants, as well as development of housing for sale. The Specialized Retail segment includes Office Depot, with the Casa Marchand, Fesa and Radio Shack, brands, as well as Grupo Prisa in Chile; Tiendas Home Store, and Petco (Joint Venture). The Restaurants segment is composed of Restaurantes Toks, with the Beer Factory and Restaurantes California brands; Panda Express, a franchise of the gourmet Chinese restaurant, and Cup Stop, offering specialty coffee and baked bread.
