Grupo México, S.A.B. de C.V. (BMV:GMEXICO B) agreed to acquire Retail Banking Operations of Grupo Financiero Citibanamex, S. A. de C. V. on February 2, 2023. As of May 16, 2023, Grupo Mexico SAB is close to clinching a nearly $7 billion deal. When the deal is completed, Citigroup, Inc is to retain a 10% stake in the unit.
Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. de C.V. is a holding company. The Company's principal activities are in the mining-metallurgic industry, the exploration, exploitation and benefit of metallic and non-metallic ores, multimodal freight railroad service, and infrastructure development.
