60 Students Completed the Green Journey of Hang Lung Green LEEDers 2014

(Hong Kong, December 9, 2014) Hang Lung Properties Limited recently completed the third edition of the annual "Hang Lung Green LEEDers" program. As part of this program, 60 primary school students from low-income families, accompanied by Hang Lung volunteers, explored the environmental protection issues by themselves. They completed the last low-carbon activity on December 7 and were presented certificates by Mr. Chuk Fai Kwan, Assistant Director - Corporate Communications of Hang Lung Properties Limited, who was present at all the four activities.

Mr. Chuk Fai Kwan has participated in the program for two consecutive years, during which time he has had the opportunity to witness the growth of students. "This program has been an invaluable experience for me to discover the latest green knowledge together with students," he said. "In addition, I am able to share my personal work and life experiences with them, making this a mutually beneficial experience."

The Conservancy Association is glad to be one of the partners of the "Hang Lung Green LEEDers" program. Mr. Terence Tang, Education Manager of The Conservancy Association, said, "The aim of our series of activities is to arouse students' interest towards nature, and to enhance their awareness of environmental conservation. We work to bring inspiring green experiences to students with the hope that they will continue to promote green messages in the future."

Ms. Anita Lam Siu -fFung, Coordinator of tThe Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG), said, "The activities not only strengthen the students' green knowledge, but also broaden their multidimensional horizons. With the cooperation of Hang Lung and HKFYG, we believe that we will be able to provide more support to young people in need, and cultivate their all-round development."

The "Hang Lung Green LEEDers" program provides a comprehensive platform for students to discover the latest green knowledge by participating in a series of four activities related to low-carbon living, energy-saving, eco-experience, and diversion of waste. This year, participating students familiarized themselves with green buildings, understood more about waste treatment in Hong Kong by visiting a landfill, enhanced their awareness of nature conservation during a visit to Deep Bay, and learned how to minimize carbon emissions in our daily lives through games.
