(Hong Kong, October 1, 2015) In an acknowledgement of the huge contribution that mainland China has made in the world of palaeontology, dinosaur discovery and research, National Geographic Channel (NGC), Hang Lung Properties and Globe Creative (executive producer), today launched 'T-Rex Revealed - The Augmented Reality Experience' at Grand Gateway 66 in Shanghai. This is the world's first exhibition that uses in its entirety Augmented Reality (AR) to debunk popular myths and reveal what we really know about T-Rex, the most famous meat-eating dinosaur of them all.

Mainland China has unearthed some of the most spectacular dinosaur discoveries in the world. From the Mamenchisaurus, one of the longest-necked animals to have ever lived, to the gliding feathered dinosaur Microraptor, cousin of the Velociraptor from the movie Jurassic Park, China's fortuitous bounty of fossil-bearing rocks has made it one of the hottest places on the planet for dinosaur discoveries.

'Upholding the objectives of the National Geographic Society of America for the past 127 years, National Geographic Channel continues to promote exploration, environmental protection, education as well as other activities to accomplish the Society's mission. T-Rex Revealed, which starts today, complements perfectly National Geographic Channel's latest blockbuster documentary T-Rex Autopsy. This brings the world of T-Rex to parents, children and other audiences and further enhances this learning experience through the exhibition's educational programs,' said Mr. Tony Qi, Vice President of National Geographic Channels Asia, Territory head of China.

Mr. Joseph To, Assistant Director (Leasing & Management) of Hang Lung Properties, said at the launch ceremony, 'We are proud to be the venue sponsor of this first ever exhibition in mainland China. The collaboration with NGC will deliver unique and exciting experiences to our customers. Through this exhibition, shoppers can immerse themselves in a world of prehistoric dinosaurs using augmented reality technology. They can see dinosaurs roaming in our shopping malls and pose for pictures with these amazing creatures. At the same time, they will be able to enjoy the wide variety of activities offered by our malls.'

T-Rex Revealed comprises the main exhibition where we debunk long-held myths about tyrannosaurs like T-Rex. The mini AR stations that surround the main exhibition reveal things you probably never knew about tyrannosaurs. Audiences can also interact 'live' with dinosaurs through a special 'Back to the Jurassic' experience, as well as attend the Dino Academy to learn everything you ever wanted to know about dinosaurs. The display includes two complete dinosaur skeleton replicas - an 8-meter long duckbill-like Edmontosaurus, which was one of T-Rex's favorite foods and a 6-meter long Albertosaurus, its tyrannosaur relative. Albertosaurus and T-Rex were some of the last dinosaurs to have ever lived before a catastrophic asteroid impact - along with massive long-term volcanic eruptions - caused their total extinction.

Other interesting activities like special guided tours and educational activities conducted by the exhibition's Dino ambassadors will be available to the public and schools, while scientifically accurate Dino toys can be purchased from the Dino Pop-Up Store. Customers can enroll at 1st floor atrium of Grand Gateway 66 for the guided tours. Children can also have fun excavating their own Dino eggs fossil at the Dino Sandbox Adventure Zone.

The T-Rex Revealed exhibition tour will visit multiple cities in mainland China, with Hang Lung Properties being the first venue sponsor on the Mainland. After the exhibition closes at Grand Gateway 66, it will then visit Centre 66 in Wuxi from October 20 to November 15, 2015.
