MILWAUKEE (AP) _ Harley-Davidson Inc. (HOG) on Thursday reported second-quarter net income of $215.8 million.

On a per-share basis, the Milwaukee-based company said it had profit of $1.46.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.21 per share.

The motorcycle maker posted revenue of $1.27 billion in the period, which met Street forecasts.
