Johannesburg, Wednesday, 5 June 2019. Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited ('Harmony' and/or 'the Company') regrets to advise that one of its employees succumbed to their injuries following a scraper winch related incident at its Tshepong mine, in Welkom, this morning.

'We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague and wish to express our sincerest condolences to the deceased employee's family, friends and colleagues,' said Peter Steenkamp, chief executive officer of Harmony.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
