HONOLULU, April 25, 2022 - Hawaiian Electric crews will be replacing a utility pole in Windward Oahu on Thursday, April 28, requiring closure of the far-right Honolulu-bound lane of Pali Highway from the tunnel entrance to the exit between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Crews will be replacing the pole in a mountainous area below the Pali Highway tunnels. Due to the remote location, the pole removal and installation requires climbers and a heavy lift helicopter, which may be visible from Pali Highway. Bucket trucks also will be used on Pali Highway.
Flagmen and special duty police will provide onsite traffic control. Traffic cones, safety signs and arrow boards will mark the work zones. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive with caution when approaching and passing the work zones.
