Healthcare Services Group, Inc. announced earnings results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2021. For the second quarter, the company announced sales was USD 398.171 million compared to USD 452.029 million a year ago. Operating income was USD 11.709 million compared to USD 23.047 million a year ago. Net income was USD 9.565 million compared to USD 23.101 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 0.13 compared to USD 0.31 a year ago. For the half year, sales was USD 805.922 million compared to USD 901.179 million a year ago. Operating income was USD 42.854 million compared to USD 55.024 million a year ago. Net income was USD 34.218 million compared to USD 43.291 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 0.46 compared to USD 0.58 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 0.45 compared to USD 0.58 a year ago.
Healthcare Services Group, Inc. provides management, administrative and operating services to the housekeeping, laundry, linen, facility maintenance and dietary service departments of healthcare facilities, including nursing homes, retirement complexes, rehabilitation centers and hospitals located throughout the United States. The Company's segments include housekeeping, laundry, linen and other services (Housekeeping), and dietary department services (Dietary). Housekeeping segment manages its customers housekeeping departments, which are responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing of resident rooms and common areas of the customers facilities, as well as the laundering and processing of the bed linens and other assorted linen items. Dietary segment manages its customers dietary departments, which are responsible for food purchasing, meal preparation and professional dietitian services that include the development of menus that meet the dietary needs of residents.
