Hero MotoCorp Ltd. second-quarter net profit rose 8.9% on year as demand for its two-wheelers picked up after Covid-19 restrictions began to ease in the country.

Net profit for the July-September quarter came in at 9.53 billion rupees ($128.5 million), the world's largest two-wheeler maker said late Wednesday.

Revenue was INR93.67 billion, compared with INR75.71 billion a year earlier.

The latest earnings signal a gradual revival from the negative impact of the pandemic, Hero MotoCorp Chief Financial Officer Niranjan Gupta said.

"The recovery in demand to pre-Covid levels, credible resumption of supply chain and logistics, cost and cash management, along with judicious price increase, has helped deliver profitability," Mr. Gupta said.

Hero MotoCorp said it expects the momentum to continue into the festive season as the economy heads toward a recovery.
