DALLAS (AP) _ HollyFrontier Corp. (HFC) on Wednesday reported a loss of $39.5 million in its fourth quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Dallas-based company said it had a loss of 24 cents. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 11 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 2 cents per share.

The independent energy company posted revenue of $5.62 billion in the period, which beat Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $4.25 billion.

For the year, the company reported net income of $558.3 million, or $3.39 per share, swinging to a profit in the period. Revenue was reported as $18.39 billion.
