The Hong Kong exchange has canceled all trading sessions for the day because of a typhoon alert issued by the city's government.

"No securities clearing and settlement services will be provided for the day," Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Ltd. said in a statement at noon Tuesday.

The suspension also applies to trading via the Stock Connect program linking Hong Kong's exchange with those in mainland China, HKEX said.

HKEX had previously canceled trading for the morning.
