Connectors (Receptacles and Plug cables) Supporting USB3.1 Gen1 (5Gbps) for Automotive Application

Hosiden has developed a connector supporting USB3.1 Gen1 (5Gbps) for automotive use.
The connectors can transmit two pairs of 5Gbps differential signal lines and a pair of 480 Mbps differential signal lines, as well as carrying up to 3A for rated power supply purposes, optimum for vehicle wiring schemes.
Incorporation of this high-speed signal transmission of 5 Gbps has been achieved by leveraging the design, evaluation technology and expertise that Hosiden has acquired through development of its high-speed transmission connectors. The mated connector features a mechanical lock, giving high retention force and good EMC performance due to its double shielding structure. This design satisfies the stringent requirements of robustness, vibration and shock resistance in automotive applications.
In addition, to facilitate the increased number of USB ports to be provided in vehicles, Hosiden has developed a two-series connector model enabling two ports of connection via a single connector.
The development aims at reduction of the connector mounting area and the wiring workload during vehicle assembly.
There is a high expectation that this connector will be instrumental in meeting the growing demand for high-speed data handling and the associated higher data volumes of forthcoming automotive components.
