HSBC Holdings has announced the appointment of a new head of global banking in the Middle East. The firm has appointed Julian Wentzel to the position. He is to transfer from London to take up the new position.

He is currently HSBC Holdings' head of Global Banking for the UK and International Europe and has more than 25 years of experience. Wentzel is to take over from Gareth Thomas, who is to become chief risk officer for the bank in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey.
