Vildmannen 7, situated where Biblioteksgatan crosses Jakobsbergsgatan, suffered extensive fire damage in 2017. Following the preparation of a new local plan, a complex demolition of the fire-damaged building and the excavation of a new basement, it is time to pour a new foundation. Concrete will be poured below the water table, at a depth of up to three metres, and will be carried out with the help of about 25 specially trained divers.

'The pouring of the foundation is a real milestone for us. The fire was a tragedy, but we immediately made the decision that the new building to be constructed behind the 120-year-old facade was to be just as unique as its predecessor. The new architecture, complete with high-quality material, will create a real wow factor,' says Anders Nygren, Vice President and Head of the Stockholm Business Area, Hufvudstaden.

When the rebuild is complete in 2023, Vildmannen 7 will offer about 4,000 square metres of state-of-the-art office and retail premises as well as space for potential restaurant activities.

'The fire and subsequent rebuild have meant that we have taken a deep dive into the history, architecture and building technology of Vildmannen 7. This is a building engulfed in cultural history that many people have a strong connection with. Efforts to let the property are now underway in earnest and interest in moving in to a modern and exclusive building that also has an interesting history is considerable,' says Anders Nygren.
