Hydro One announced funding to support Kawartha Food Share and Brock Mission, two critical organizations serving Peterborough and surrounding communities.
Hydro One is committed to standing up for customers in the communities it serves, especially in this time of great need.

In August, Hydro One announced its commitment to provide $100,000 in community investment funding through its Building Safe Communities initiative to support important local organizations in Peterborough, Lakefield and Norwood in 2020. Hydro One has partnered with the following organizations: YES Shelter for Youth and Families by providing funding for the purchase of a new truck to support daily operations.
Kawartha Food Share by supporting the purchase of new equipment needed to improve daily warehouse operations, and food for community members in need.
Brock Mission by providing funding to support the development of a new men's shelter opening in 2021, and essential services such as addiction counselling and 24-hour emergency shelters that the Mission provides.
'Kawartha Food Share, Brock Mission and YES Shelter provide critical services to our community,' said Peterborough Mayor, Diane Therrien. 'I would like to thank Hydro One for its investments in the City of Peterborough and these deserving organizations as part of its Building Safe Communities initiative.'
'Selwyn Township is very thankful for the generosity of Hydro One in providing support for Kawartha Food Share who support local Food Banks in Selwyn Township as well as the Brock Mission that provides safe and secure housing for the homeless,' said Selwyn Township Mayor, Andy Mitchell. 'This generous donation will go a long way to address food and housing insecurity for our most vulnerable residents.'

'We distribute over 500,000 lbs. of food each month to local food banks, meal programs and shelters, and having safe, efficient equipment will make this task much easier. We can't thank Hydro One enough for its support in the fight against hunger in Peterborough and County.'

'The purchase of this truck, made possible by Hydro One, has allowed us to improve our services for youth and families experiencing homelessness, in a time when they've needed us more than ever.'

On August 1, 2020, Hydro One announced the legal closing of the acquisition of the business assets of Peterborough Distribution Inc. ('PDI') by its wholly-owned subsidiary, Hydro One Inc. Peterborough Distribution customers immediately benefitted from the deal. Starting with August electricity use, base distribution rates were reduced by 1 per cent and are frozen for five years. Peterborough Distribution customers will become Hydro One customers when the transition is complete next year.
