Chief Executive Carrie Lam today inspected the progress of various works and projects in the Lok Ma Chau Loop and toured the Sham Shui Po Sports Ground to see the anti-epidemic measures there.

Mrs Lam visited Lok Ma Chau where she was briefed by Innovation & Technology Bureau and Civil Engineering & Development Department staff on the progress of the works of supporting infrastructural facilities in the Lok Ma Chau Loop and the establishment of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation & Technology Park.

The park will prioritise the development of six research and development areas, namely healthcare technologies, big data and artificial intelligence, robotics, new materials, microelectronics and financial technology, with the first batch of buildings to be completed in 2024 to allow tenants to move in.

Noting that Hong Kong has been strong in innovation and technology (I&T) development while Shenzhen is good at the commercial application of technological achievements, Mrs Lam said the co-operation between the two places will provide enormous impetus to the development of the international I&T hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Mrs Lam then visited Lok Ma Chau Police Station to extend New Year greetings to police officers on duty. She also called on duty officers at Lok Ma Chau Boundary Control Point to learn more about the clearance procedure for cross-boundary trucks amid the epidemic.

She thanked police, customs, immigration and Department of Health officers for standing fast at their posts to maintain law and order and ensuring the smooth operation of cross-boundary freight traffic.

At Sham Shui Po Sports Ground, the Chief Executive was briefed on the use of the sports ground during the Lunar New Year holidays. The Leisure & Cultural Services Department has arranged for 10 sports grounds to open for the public to enjoy jogging during the Lunar New Year.

Before entering such venues, members of the public have to scan the LeaveHomeSafe QR code with their mobile phones or register their contact details.
