The Executive Chairman of Iberdrola, Ignacio Galan, was this afternoon in charge of presenting the Iberdrola Supera Awards, recognising the promotion of equality through sport with a total of EUR300,000, which will be used to make the winning projects in each of the six categories a reality.

Since 2016, Iberdrola has been the main promoter of women's sport in Spain. It supports 32 National Federations, promoting more than 600,000 federated women, 2 out of every 3 federated women, and has more than 100 competitions with the Iberdrola naming right, including 32 leagues.

In relation to the awards, Galan highlighted that with these 'the company materialises its integral commitment to equality, accompanying girls and women to fulfil their dreams through sport. Just as a building needs the best possible foundations, our future sportswomen and women also deserve the best possible support. Events like today's are the path to future success and give visibility to initiatives ranging from grassroots sport to top-level competition, including the more social aspects of sport, such as inclusion and mental health care for sportswomen'.

The Jury of Honour, made up of Susanna Griso, Sonsoles Onega, Eli Pinedo, Ona Carbonell, Amanda Sampedro, Carolina Marin, Javier Fernandez, Jesus Carballo, Manu Carreno, Marta Arce, Paloma del Rio, Sandra Sanchez, Silvia Navarro, Teresa Perales and Vicente del Bosque, has been deliberating for days to reach its decision.

The winners were informed of the verdict at an event hosted by journalist Aurora Gonzalez and entertained by the illusionist Jorge Luengo and singer Luz Casal, which was attended by the president of the Consejo Superior de Deportes, Jose Manuel Franco; the secretary general of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Maria Victoria Cabezas, the president of the Spanish Paralympic Committee, Miguel Carballeda; representatives of the 32 National Sports Federations sponsored by the company, Sofia Miranda; and representatives of the 32 National Sports Federations sponsored by the company; the President of the Spanish Paralympic Committee, Miguel Carballeda; the Delegate Councillor for Sport of Madrid City Council, Sofia Miranda; representatives of the 32 National Sports Federations sponsored by the company; and a large number of Iberdrola Ambassadors, such as Carolina Marin (badminton), Ona Carbonell (synchronised swimming), and Teresa Perales (swimming), among others.

The awards gala put the finishing touch to a third edition that had 600 candidates and which today has made visible in a festive way the role that the company is playing in the achievement of equality through sport.

With a total of EUR300,000, the awards will award EUR50,000 to each of the winning projects, programmes or initiatives in the six categories:

'Supera Social', to promote the integration of women in society through sport, and which will help the Algeciras Rowing Club (Andalusia) to help women who have overcome breast cancer to integrate into society through team rowing.

For its part, 'Supera Difusion', for giving visibility to women's sport, has awarded the documentary series 'Conquistadoras', from the ExtTV channel for its project to tell the stories of sportswomen, clubs and federations worthy of being known, valued and remembered.

And, as a novelty this year, 'Supera Salud Mental', which rewards mental health care in the field of sport, went to the project 'Train your wings', by Affit, for the application of a sports programme in the Therapeutic Educational Unit of the Provincial Hospital of Castellon, and for the improvement that the adolescents will achieve thanks to the increased hours of physical activity.
