SAINT-GOBAIN AND ICADE PLAN TO CO-DEVELOP BUILDINGS

WITH A LOW ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT IN FRANCE

Saint-Gobain and Icade have signed a letter of intent to co-develop office, industrial, residential and healthcare buildings with a low environmental impact in France.

Thanks to the combined expertise of the two companies, this partnership will promote and scale up low-carbon construction and renovation by integrating Saint-Gobain's building innovations into Icade's projects. Its focus areas include timber construction, off-site construction (prefabrication) and the use of new products designed with renewable bio-based and natural mineral materials. To this end, Saint-Gobain and Icade will prioritise the use of solutions and materials with a high proportion of recycled content and products and systems from reuse initiatives. As a result, these two companies will ensure the resilience of buildings as well as their adaptation to climate change.

"We are delighted about this partnership with Icade as it is in line with our "Grow & Impact" strategic plan to be the world leader in sustainable construction. It also represents a new phase of our CO2 roadmap which aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 in addition to reducing our scope 1 and 2 emissions by 33% and our scope 3 emissions by 16% in absolute terms by 2030 compared to 2017," explained Thierry Fournier, Senior Vice President & CEO Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa at Saint-Gobain.

"Icade has made low-carbon its strategic priority and one of the pillars of its Purpose. It has also sought to set higher goals to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by having all its business lines embrace a 1.5°C-aligned net zero pathway approved by the SBTi. This future partnership with Saint-Gobain is compatible with our efforts to assist our partners in implementing innovative building solutions that continually deliver an outstanding environmental performance for the benefit of our customers," declared Olivier Wigniolle, CEO of Icade.

This partnership will enable these two groups to expand their footprint in the low-carbon construction market in France.
