LONDON, Sept 2 (Reuters) - Dutch lender ING said on Friday it had appointed Jacomijn Vels as global head of sustainable finance.

Vels, who has been with the bank for 28 years and worked across various roles in wholesale banking, including in leveraged finance, will start the role on Oct. 15 and report to the global head of wholesale banking lending Krista Radstake.

"Now more than ever, it is important we play our full part in the social and low-carbon transformation that’s necessary to achieve a sustainable future, steering our financing towards meeting global sustainability goals," Vels said. (Reporting by Simon Jessop; Editing by Jan Harvey)
