Inmarsat is the world's No. 1 of mobile communication services (telephone, video, Internet, etc.) via satellite, intended primarily for the maritime, aeronautical, defense, media, and energy sectors. The group also offers space aboard its satellites. Sales break down by activity as follows:
- voice and data transmission (91.1%): maritime transmissions (41.4% of net sales), land transmissions (28.5%), aeronautical transmissions (19.2%) and other (10.9%);
- broadband services (8.9%).
At the end of 2018, the group owned 13 geostationary satellites.
Net sales break down geographically as follows: the United Kingdom (4.9%), Europe (30.3%), North America (40.5%), Asia/Pacific (17.6%) and other (6.7%).
