Instalco and Wayout International will begin collaborating on a project to increase access to clean water in vulnerable areas of the world. Swedish Wayout is developing microfactories for local water purification that can then be used as drinking water. Wayout offers turnkey micro-purification factories for local production and distribution of clean drinking water. They are distributed to vulnerable areas around the world. A single microfactory can produce as much as 150,000 litres of drinking water per month. Microfactories also help eliminate negative environmental impacts like bottling, transport and waste management of plastic bottles. At these 15 sq. m. microfactories, water is remineralized and used as drinking water or as the foundation for other drinks. The fully automated system has been designed to run on solar cells.
