ACTON, Mass. (AP) _ Insulet Corp. (PODD) on Wednesday reported third-quarter profit of $11.6 million.

On a per-share basis, the Acton, Massachusetts-based company said it had profit of 17 cents.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 12 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 6 cents per share.

The maker of insulin infusion systems posted revenue of $234 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $221.1 million.

Insulet shares have risen 35% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $231.43, an increase of 59% in the last 12 months.
