IAG is dedicated to supporting its customers across New South Wales and Victoria who continue to be impacted by heavy rainfall and flooding.

Since 3rd October 2022, IAG has received 1,207 claims due to the heavy rain and floods, with the majority of claims from customers in New South Wales.

IAG is encouraging residents to keep an eye on the advice from their state's emergency authorities, to stay safe and take extra care on the roads and never drive through floodwaters.

IAG Executive General Manager Direct Claims Luke Gallagher said: "We are supporting our customers and the communities impacted by the heavy rain, storms and flooding across New South Wales and Victoria. Our Major Event Response team and partner builders are helping our customers by providing emergency support such as temporary accommodation and assessing damage to properties and conducting Make Safe repairs where it is safe to do so.

"While we have received a moderate number of claims related to the recent heavy rainfall, we do anticipate we will hear from more customers who need our support as major flood warnings remain in place across western New South Wales.

"We are encouraging residents to check the relevant state SES website for updates and take action accordingly.

"We know many families are back to the school drop off and pick up routine this week. We encourage everyone to ensure safety is the number one priority. We urge everyone to check for any severe weather warnings or road closures by the emergency authorities and to never drive through floodwaters, regardless of how minor the level of flooding may seem."

While the severe rain has eased or cleared in many impacted regions, 4 flood warnings are in place, including for major flooding near Oura, Dubbo and the Hawkesbury regions of New South Wales.

IAG Meteorologist Peter Chan said: "The flood waters caused by heavy rainfall over the past week will take time to move through the downstream sections of these catchments, so we urge communities to be prepared for further flooding.

"Unfortunately, there is more wet weather on the way and the next system is forecast to bring further moderate to heavy rain and storms to South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales and Queensland between Wednesday and Friday."
