Intercontinental Exchange Co. on Thursday posted greater revenue and earnings year over year in the third quarter.

The Atlanta-based markets company logged earnings of $1.12 a share, up from 71 cents a share a year ago. Net income rose to $633 million, from $390 million.

Stripping out one-time items, adjusted earnings were $1.30 a share. Analysts polled by FactSet had forecast adjusted earnings of $1.22 a share.

Revenue grew to $2.28 billion, from $1.93 billion a year earlier. Analysts were forecasting sales of $1.75 billion.

Exchange revenue grew 17% to $959 million. Fixed-income and data-services sales rose 6% to $477 million. Mortgage-technology revenue was $366 million, up from $143 million a year ago.
