26 August, 2013 IHG Expands the Holiday Inn® Brand in Peru

New-Build Holiday Inn hotel in Lima grows brand's South American portfolio

MIAMI - IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), continues to increase the Holiday Inn® brand's footprint in Latin America with the signing of the new-build Holiday Inn Lima Airport hotel.  The $24 million hotel will be located adjacent to the city's Jorge Chavez International Airport, and is being developed by the Pinasco family, who will also manage the hotel under the Operaciones Turisticas Peruanas S.A.C. entity. The organization has been working with IHG for many years and also owns and manages the Crowne Plaza® Lima hotel.

"We see great potential for our brands in Peru," said Joel Eisemann, chief development officer, the Americas, IHG. "Lima is Peru's economic center and the development of airport hotels is an extremely positive sign of economic well-being.  There is great demand for this type of hotel and we look forward to helping meet the needs of Peru's growing hospitality industry."

The eight-story, 179-room hotel is directly connected to the city's international airport, and ideally situated just 2.5 miles away from the Port of Callao, one of the busiest and most heavily trafficked sea-ports in Latin America. Lima traces its rich history back to 1535, and is the financial center of Peru, as well as one of the most important Latin American financial centers. It is home to numerous multinational corporations and factories. Peru has enjoyed strong economic growth and is one of the continent's fast-growing regions.

"We are honored to expand our relationship with Operaciones Turisticas Peruanas S.A.C and the Pinasco family," said Alvaro Diago, chief operating officer, Latin America and Caribbean, IHG. "As long-term partners with IHG, they are among the most respected business professionals in the country.  The Holiday Inn Lima Airport hotel will be an extremely positive addition to the Holiday Inn Brand Family in Latin America."

The hotel's airport location makes it ideal for both corporate and leisure travelers. The property will be equipped with sound insulation, built to minimize airport noise, to ensure a pleasurable and convenient stay for guests. The hotel will also feature a restaurant including Room Service Right … On Time™, available at all Holiday Inn hotels, ensuring accurate and timely room service orders, a bar and indoor swimming pool.

The new hotel will be designed in line with the Holiday Inn Brand Family's $1 billion global brand relaunch, the largest project of its kind in hospitality history. The relaunch continues to drive increased quality and consistency across the global portfolio and comprises emphasis on arrival and welcome services, guestroom and guest bath comfort and a redesigned logo and signage.

Holiday Inn hotels feature an atmosphere that is warm, trend forward and comfortable. Guest beds are made using crisp, white bedding with pillows that come in two comfort levels: "soft" and "firm." The residential design will include business-focused necessities such as an ergonomic workstation and data ports with the bathrooms including a multifunctional showerhead, as well as a signature shower curtain with curved rod, and amenities. Additionally, each room will have standard Holiday Inn brand guestroom accommodations - comfortable double, queen or king-sized beds, a sitting area with a lounge chair, hairdryer, micro fridge, coffee maker, iron and ironing board.

IHG has 44 Holiday Inn hotels and Holiday Inn Express hotels throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, and has been serving Latin America for more than 65 years.
