Provident Financial Romania ('Provident'), part of International Personal Finance (IPF), has joined the Association of Financial Institutions (ALB Romania) as a principal member. Membership of the ALB reflects the company's status as leading non-bank financial institution and its future role in helping to influence regulation that is good for consumers and the non-bank lending sector.

ALB Romania was established in 2004 to provide a professional framework for Romania's non-bank financial services and to help them constructively engage with legislation and market issues. As a leading provider of home credit consumer loans having served more than 1 million customers since entering the market in 2006, Provident brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the association that will strengthen ALB representation with key stakeholders across the legislative and political spectrum.

Provident has previously worked with the ALB Romania to create the association's Consumers Credit Council in 2006, which Provident led for two years. Furthermore, Provident has also supported important initiatives such as the implementation of the ALB Romania's Code of Conduct.

Viktor Boczán, General Manager, Provident Financial Romania, said:'We are very pleased to join ALB Romania and we look forward to working closely with other responsible companies in the association to position the non-bank sector alongside the banks as an essential part of a competitive and well-functioning Romanian credit market. Provident prides itself in proactively engaging with key policymakers, and by joining ALB Romania as a principal member we are well positioned to constructively engage with key influencers and policymakers.'

Celebrating its ten year anniversary in 2016, Provident has grown to become one of the country's largest providers of consumer credit in the market, granting more than 2.5 million loans since 2006, during which time the Company has also invested over €270 million into the Romanian economy. Provident is also one of Romania's top 50 employers, employs over 3,000 people and serves customers through 70 branches in over 200 towns and cities across the country.
