Interserve Group Limited, the international support services, construction and equipment services group, is delighted to announce that a major military hangar it constructed in Cyprus was officially opened yesterday.

The Commander British Forces (CBF) Cyprus, Major General James Illingworth OBE, formally opened the aircraft hangar at Kingsfield airfield in the Eastern Sovereign Base Area, on Tuesday.

The £605,000 hangar will house Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft. It was completed in 12 months by Interserve, alongside subcontractor Cyprus Service Provider, in partnership with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO).

Major General James Illingworth OBE said: 'I relished the opportunity to attend the ceremony and to open a much-needed facility that provides hangarage for the Joint Services Adventure Training Wing Cyprus.'

Tom Wishart, Senior Estates Facilities Manager for the Eastern Sovereign Base Area at the DIO, said: 'I am proud of the hangar project that Interserve and CSP successfully delivered on time and within budget. The team did a great job and this was reflected in the appreciation shown by CBF and staff from the Adventure Training Group Army.'

Alan Ardron, Interserve's Account Director in Cyprus, said: 'The project illustrates Interserve's ability to deliver complex projects in a short timeframe to a demanding specification.

'I was incredibly proud to be invited to attend the formal opening. The construction work undertaken by Interserve and CSP fulfilled all of our client's expectations.'
