INTESA SANPAOLO AND LUISS BUSINESS SCHOOL TOGETHER FOR ADVANCED TRAINING IN FINANCIAL RISK GOVERNANCE

After the success of the first edition, the Executive Programme in "Governance, Supervision and Strategy of Financial Intermediaries" with a focus on digital transformation and sustainable finance starts today

Rome, 15 October 2021 - Today marks the start of the second edition of the Executive Programme in "Governance, Supervision and Strategy of Financial Intermediaries", the highly specialised Luiss Business School programme in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo aimed at directors and executive managers facing the new challenges posed by a constantly evolving banking market.

This year's course, designed to strengthen specialist skills in areas such as corporate finance, risk management, compliance, and the economics of financial intermediaries, has been enriched with in-depth studies dedicated to the topical issues of digital transformation and sustainable finance: the former, on "Digital Open Banking", includes a discussion of PSD2, the role of Fintech, automated financial advice, big data, virtual currencies, and applications of artificial intelligence to the banking sector in view of a single digital market; the latter, touching on new reporting rules for businesses, the impact on bank governance in the context of sustainable finance, and thus on green, social and sustainability bonds, is dedicated to an in-depth study of "Sustainable Finance" in the framework of the European Green Deal and ensuing Sustainable Europe Investment Plan.

"The pandemic has posed new risks for us to face, but it has also created new opportunities. We are dealing with something unprecedented that needs to be understood in order to be governed. Identifying the right key to understanding the transformations affecting the financial world is therefore one of our priorities. It is thus our task to offer those facing these transformations the most innovative tools to do so," commented Enzo Peruffo, Associate Dean for Education and Director of MBA & Executive Education, Luiss Business School.

"Financial training represents not only a tool for the protection and enhancement of individual and social economic assets, but a right of citizenship in a certain sense cited by the Italian Constitution itself in Article 47 through the concept of the guarantee and protection of savings. The training programme offered by the Executive Program is an expression of Intesa Sanpaolo's commitment to the growth of the economic culture of Italian management, and I am convinced that it can increasingly catalyse private entities active in this field and also come to represent a benchmark at European level" said Marcello Mentini, Head Group Regulatory Agenda Department, Intesa Sanpaolo.

A focus on the new scenarios of financial regulation and supervisory and control systems, as well as an analytical viewpoint on the transformations in the banking world, have always characterised the partnership between Intesa Sanpaolo and Luiss Business School.

The governance of the Executive Programme has two co-directors, Mirella Pellegrini, tenured professor at Luiss, and Marcello Mentini of Intesa Sanpaolo, and a scientific committee composed of Paolo Boccardelli, Stefano Lucchini, Stefano Del Punta, Enzo Peruffo, Laura Lunghi and Paola Lucantoni.
