INTESA SANPAOLO: FIRST ITALIAN BANK CERTIFIED ACCORDING TO

THE INTERNATIONAL GEEIS-DIVERSITY STANDARD

Bureau Veritas issues the Arborus certification for commitment to diversity and inclusion

Turin/Milan, 10 June 2021 - Intesa Sanpaolo is the first bank in Italy and among the first in Europe to receive the Gender Equality European & International Standard (GEEIS-Diversity), the international certification of the Arborus association issued through Bureau Veritas and aimed at assessing the commitment of organisations to diversity and inclusion.

"This voluntary certification indicates that Bureau Veritas recognises Intesa Sanpaolo's focus on gender equity and empowering the Bank's women. A significant certification of the results achieved with our gender policies that confirms the healthy positioning in the main international indexes in the field of the promotion of equal opportunities in the workplace", commented Paola Angeletti, Chief Operating Officer of Intesa Sanpaolo.

"Thanks to the assessment by Bureau Veritas, Intesa Sanpaolo has received confirmation of the maturity of its approach to Diversity & Inclusion, measuring itself against a standard that embodies international best practices", says Diego D'Amato, President and CEO of Bureau Veritas Italy. "For Bureau Veritas it is a source of pride to be compared with leading companies in the field of human resources management".

The evaluation process examined data, staff processes, policies and action plans with a focus on the consequentiality between listening activities, initiatives and projects carried out and the monitoring of results.

Intesa Sanpaolo is included in the "Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index" 2021 (GEI) with a score well above the global financial sector average and in the Diversity & Inclusion Index of Refinitiv, an international index that selects the 100 most inclusive and diversity-conscious companies in the world listed on the stock exchange; it has also been recognised by Equileap Research in the top 5 of the FTSE MIB 40, in the "2020 Gender Equality in Spain, Italy and Greece" ranking.

Bureau Veritas - recognised by Arborus as the only body in charge of verification activities for the GEEIS label - has chosen to implement this model internally, directly demonstrating its commitment to Diversity & Inclusion issues.
