In the first quarter of 2016, Irkutskenergo ranked second in the 'Generating Companies: Performance in the Market' ranking, moving up compared to last year. The ranking was compiled by the Non-Profit Partnership 'Council for Organizing an Efficient System of Trading in the Wholesale and Retail Electricity and Capacity Market' (NP Market Council). The Boguchanskaya HPP topped the ranking, while the third place went to Rosenergoatom Concern.

As part of its analysis of the companies' performance in the market, NP Market Council calculates ratings for federal subjects of Russia and participants of the wholesale and retail electricity markets. Traditionally, the ranking of generating companies is compiled on a quarterly basis and at year end; it helps assess and benchmark the performance of generating companies according to the following criteria: maintaining operational availability of power-generating equipment, load optimization, unit cost and profit per unit of output. The ranking is compiled based on the above indicators taking into account their weighting: operational availability of power-generating equipment has a weighting of 35%; the capacity factor has a weighting of 15%; unit cost of generation of 1 MWh of electricity has a weighting of 25%; unit profit per 1 MWh of output has a weighting of 25%. The industry leader was determined based on data on 72 generating companies and enterprises.

In the full-year 2015 ranking, PJSC Irkutskenergo ranked third. The Boguchanskaya HPP ranked second, while OJSC Rosenergoatom Concern topped the ranking for the third consecutive year.
