Itaú Unibanco raises R$ 1 billion in Green Financial Bills with clients and IFC

The funds raised will be used to finance electric, hybrid and multi-fuel vehicles.

August 2022 - Itaú Unibanco made a new issue of R$ 1 billion in Green Financial Bills (LF) in the local market. The operation was divided into two tranches: R$ 500 million was raised from individual and corporate clients and fund managers, and R$ 500 million from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. In April this year, Itaú Unibanco carried out its first Green Financial Bill operation, raising R$ 1 billion with the IFC. As in the previous funding, the resources will be used to support the financing of electric, hybrid and multi-fuel vehicles, with the objective of leveraging the low-carbon economy and fostering the segment of low greenhouse gas emission vehicles in Brazil. "Aligned with our efforts to stimulate thematic emissions in the Brazilian market, this operation was essentially motivated by our clients' interest in integrating the ESG agenda into their respective business strategies," says Daniel Goretti, Itaú Unibanco's Treasury Director.

Itaú Unibanco's positive impact agenda provides for the allocation of R$400 billion by 2025 in credit lines and other products to promote a more sustainable economy. From August 2019 to June 2022, R$224 billion - 56% of the target - has already been allocated in financing for positive impact sectors, ESG products and operations.
