J & J Snack Foods Corp. announced earnings results for the third quarter ended June 26, 2021. For the third quarter, the company announced sales was USD 324.344 million compared to USD 214.563 million a year ago. Operating income was USD 38.144 million compared to operating loss of USD 19.420 million a year ago. Net income was USD 28.893 million compared to net loss of USD 12.647 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 1.52 compared to basic loss per share from continuing operations of USD 0.67 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 1.51 compared to diluted loss per share from continuing operations of USD 0.67 a year ago. For the nine months, sales was USD 821.519 million compared to USD 769.502 million a year ago. Operating income was USD 45.952 million compared to USD 13.265 million a year ago. Net income was USD 36.732 million compared to USD 11.721 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 1.93 compared to USD 0.62 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 1.92 compared to USD 0.62 a year ago.
J & J Snack Foods Corp. manufactures snack foods and distributes frozen beverages which it markets nationally to the foodservice and retail supermarket industries. The Company operates through three segments: Food Service, Retail Supermarkets and Frozen Beverages. The primary products sold by the Food Service segment are soft pretzels, frozen novelties, churros, handheld products and baked goods. The primary products sold to the retail supermarket channel are soft pretzel products including SUPERPRETZEL and AUNTIE ANNEâS, frozen novelties including LUIGIâS Real Italian Ice, MINUTE MAID Juice Bars and Soft Frozen Lemonade, WHOLE FRUIT frozen fruit bars and sorbet, DOGSTERS ice cream style treats for dogs, PHILLY SWIRL cups and sticks, ICEE Squeeze-Up Tubes and handheld products. This segment also offers Thinsters. The Company sells Frozen Beverages to the foodservice industry primarily under the names ICEE, SLUSH PUPPIE and PARROT ICE in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
