Sainsbury's Newham Brunel Street Works Local opened its doors to customers this morning, with Eric Samuel MBE, founder of Community Food Enterprise in Newham, cutting the ribbon at the opening ceremony.

The store is situated in the exciting new Brunel Street Works development, delivered by Vistry Partnerships. It will offer nearby residents a wide range of grocery and household products as well as the opportunity to pick up a fresh coffee from a self-service Costa coffee machine. The store is conveniently located next to Canning Town Station and is open from 7am-11pm Monday to Sunday.

Sainsbury's is committed to supporting its communities and the 23 colleagues that make up the Newham Brunel Street Works team will play an active role in the local area and support Sainsbury's nationwide community programmes and charity partners. Charities in the area that Sainsbury's has recently supported include Neighbours in Poplar, First Love Foundation and Community Food Enterprise.

Sainsbury's Property Director Patrick Dunne said: 'It's fantastic to be opening a Sainsbury's Local store in this new development. I know nearby residents will really enjoy being able to pick up their essentials here and experience the brilliant service our colleagues offer.'

Jai Gill, Associate Sales Director at Vistry Partnerships, said: 'Having a trusted brand like Sainsbury's on the doorstep is a valued amenity, not just for picking up groceries, but also in the extensive community work they do. We're thrilled they're opening the doors here at Brunel Street Works today.'

Sainsbury's Newham Brunel Street Works Store Manager Kadeer Ahmad said: 'The new store looks great and our dedicated team of colleagues can't wait to welcome customers through the door and become a part of the growing local community.'
