Contract for electric power supplies for the PATRIOT air defense missile system. The order is worth more than 10 million US dollars and will be completed in full in 2012.

The Defense & Civil Systems division of the Jenoptik Group has been awarded an order by the US procurement authority CECOM for the supply of mobile electric power supplies for the PATRIOT air defense missile system. The order also includes the associated spares packages, special tools and the test equipment. Deliveries will be made in 2012. The missile defense systems are intended for use in a Far Eastern country.

PATRIOT is a ground-based, medium range, air defense missile system used to defend aircrafts, tactical ballistic missiles and cruise missiles. The systems will supply the power to the PATRIOT system’s radar and fire control panel.

At its location in Altenstadt, the Defense & Civil Systems division has been operating successfully in the field of power supplies for the PATRIOT system over many years. These systems were developed in Altenstadt in the early 80s and over the last three decades have been modified and further developed to meet specific requirements. In autumn last year Jenoptik had already won a major order worth more than 20 million US dollars to supply similar systems. As a result of the strong demand for high-performance power systems which are manufactured by Jenoptik for the defense and rail industry, Jenoptik is expanding its production capacities at the Altenstadt site.

In Germany, Jenoptik is one of the key suppliers of systems, subsystems and components for the defense industry. The Defense & Civil Systems division focuses on the areas of vehicle and aircraft equipment, drive and stabilization technology, optoelectronic instruments and systems for the defense and security industry, software, testing and control technology as well as a comprehensive range of services. In the area of mobile and stationary electric power supplies the Defense & Civil Systems division has a successful track record of working with domestic and foreign customers extending back over decades.
