A total of 67 electric blankets failed our free annual safety check held at Western Fire Station, St Brelade, this week. Supported by Jersey Fire and Rescue Service, our engineers tested 198 blankets over two days as part of a joint drive by Fire and Rescue and Jersey Electricity to reduce the risk of fires caused by electrical fault.

Any blankets condemned as unsafe were removed from service and disposed of and the owners given a Powerhouse 10% discount voucher towards a new one. The Fire and Rescue Service recommend that all electric blankets over 10 years old should be replaced.
