Jersey Electricity's Powerhouse this week picked up two awards at the Innovative Electrical Retailing (IER) Awards in London. The Island's largest electrical retailer came away with Highly Commended in both Best Large Independent Retailer for Consumer Electronics and Best Independent Retail Superstore Showroom.

Built on the Queen's Road site of Jersey's former Power Station in 2000, the store has undergone a radical re-structure and rebrand in recent years. This was the first time the Powerhouse had entered the awards and JE's Head of Retail Gavin Murphy said: 'I think being recognised at national level shows just how far we have come and is a credit to our staff.

'We were beaten in both categories by Avensys but the judging panel said it was a very close call. We will be looking to see where we can improve on this ahead of our entry for 2019.'
