Jiangsu Expressway Co. said its net profit for the third quarter rose 10% on year, driven by higher toll income and better cost efficiency.

Net profit for the July-to-September period was 1.41 billion yuan ($210.7 million), the Chinese expressway operator said late Friday.

Revenue edged up by 0.9% from a year earlier to CNY2.68 billion, mainly due to a 3.5% increase from its toll-road business, its main source of income.

While revenue rose, the firm's operating expenses fell 12%, indicating better cost efficiency.
